COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee diving team opened up the 2006 NCAA Zone 'C' Diving Qualifying Meet on Friday afternoon. Day one of the competition featured women's one-meter diving and men's three-meter diving.

The women had three divers at the meet, with senior Erin Blemberg finishing the highest at 28th with a score of 215.90 on the one-meter board. Junior Crystal Szymanski placed 36th with 198.60 points and teammate Emily Duesler 39th with 193.10 points. Blemberg finished 20 points out of the finals in the event, as 18th place recorded a score of 235.35. She was also the top finisher from the Horizon League.

On the men's side, senior Jeff Jasinowski finished in 25th place in the preliminaries of the three-meter event with a score of 241.15 points. He missed the cutoff for finals (the top 18 in preliminaries) by just over 24 points (265.50).

The competition continues Saturday afternoon at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, starting at 11 a.m. Day two features men's one-meter and women's three-meter diving.
