ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Participants from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's diving team opened up the 2007 NCAA Zone C Diving Qualifying Meet on Friday afternoon. Day one of the competition featured three-meter diving. Senior Emily Duesler was the highest finisher for UWM, taking 22nd with 223.60 points. She finished less than seven points out of advancing to the finals (the top 18 advanced; 18th had 230.15 points) and was the top finisher from the Horizon League. Senior Crystal Szymanski placed 33rd, recording 187.75 points. "I was very happy with the way the girls dove in such tough conditions at a meet like this," UWM diving coach Todd Hill said. "Just a couple of dives here and there and they would have been in the running for finals." The competition continues Saturday at the Dick Kimball Diving Pool, with preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. Day two will feature one-meter diving for the women.
