Five Divers Qualify For Finals

Four women and one man qualify on first day of league championships

CLEVELAND - Five divers qualified for the finals on the first day of the Horizon League Championships in Cleveland Wednesday. Four of the five women on the team made Thursday's finals, while the lone diver on the men's team also advanced to the finals.

For the women, Becky Rubel, Krystina Herzog, Erin Blemberg and Hannah Burgard all qualified for the finals of the 3m diving competition. Five of the 11 completed dives from Wednesday will carry over to Thursday's finals, which Rubel enters as the league leader. The fifth women's diver, Erin Hallen, finished 12th overall and failed to make Thursday's finals.

On the men's side, Jeff Jasinowski also qualifed for the finals on Thursday on the 1m board. Jasinowski finished seventh in Wednesday's preliminaries. All men's scores from the 1m preliminaries will be erased, and all divers will begin at zero on Thursday.

The Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships continue on Thursday with preliminary heats of the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and the 50 freestyle at 10 a.m. EST. The finals of those events, along with the diving and the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays, will begin at 6 p.m. EST.
