Kedinger Grabs Two Wins To Lead Panthers
Feb. 1, 2003 MILWAUKEE - Jen Kedinger won a pair of events as the Panthers won eight of the first ten events and coasted to a 139-89 victory over Western Illinois Saturday at the Klotsche Center Pool. Sarah Walby, Beth Watt, Krystina Herzog, Kari Kinney and Emily Holcomb each added a win for the Panthers on the day. Kedinger won the 200 free in 2:00.81 and was first in the 500 free in 5:20.67. She was joined in the 200 by Jessica Johnson in third place in 2:02.29 and Nicole Rosinski in fourth in 2:04.03. In the 500 free, she was joined by Amanda Schmitt in second in 5:24.93 and Johnson in third in 5:26.34.
Sarah Walby grabbed first in the 1000 freestyle in 10:58.45, followed by Schmitt in second in 11:05.42 and Cathy Honeyager in third in 11:17.49. Watt took first in the 50 free in 26.35, with Kristin Lewis in second in 26.64 and Rachel Smith in fourth in 26.95. Kari Kinney was first in the 200 butterfly in 2:16.19, with Kristin Cefalu in second in 2:22.83. Emily Holcomb won the 200 backstroke in 2:13.83, followed by Patricia Frank in second in 2:14.32 and Kim Bach in third in 2:19.52. Krystina Herzog had the other Panther win, winning on 3m with 227.85 points, followed by Hannah Burgard in second with 223.95 and Becky Rubel in third with 222.15 points. The women's 400 medley relay team of Holcomb, Cefalu, Natalie Oettinger and Watt also won, posting a time of 4:09.42.
In other events, Sarah Caldwell was the top finisher the 200 individual medley, finishing second 2:17.65. Danielle Bradley was third in the same event in 2:18.95 with Frank in fourth in 2:19.19. Rosinski was third in the 100 free in 56.23, with Caldwell in fourth in 56.76. The Panthers return to the pool Friday when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the annual three-way dual meet with Wisconsin and UW-Green Bay. Friday's meet begins at 5 p.m. at the UW Natatorium. |
