Three Panthers Garner All-Region Honors
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Dec. 27, 2007) - Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team were honored in the region by Soccer Buzz, when the internet publication announced its all-region awards last week. Junior Sarah Teegarden was an all-region second team selection, while junior Erin Kane was named to the third team and freshman Heather Roadhouse was selected to the all-freshman team. Teegarden and Kane were each all-league first team selections for the third time in their careers, while contributing to the Panthers' league-leading defense. Teegarden was a force in the UWM midfield all season, starting all 21 games and contributing three goals on the offensive end. She was also selected to the league's all-tournament team. Kane started all 21 games in goal for Milwaukee, posting a league-best 0.73 goals against average and 10 shutouts. She also contributed on an 11th shutout with freshman teammate Leslie Deebach. The 2007 season was a memorable one for Kane, as she set school career records for goalkeeper wins and minutes played. She also pushed her school and league record for career shutouts to 36. Roadhouse was the first Panther freshman to start every game since Teegarden in 2005 and just the 10th in school history. She was another key cog in the Milwaukee defense, playing a central defensive midfield position. She was second to only Teegarden on the team in minutes played and chipped in a goal and assist on the year. The Panthers posted a 13-4-4 record this season and won their eighth-straight league regular season championship with a 7-0-1 record. The title extended a championship streak that is the second-longest in the nation. UWM also advanced to the league championship game for the league-record ninth time, but fell to Loyola in a penalty kick shootout.
