Live Updates On UWM's League Tourney Semifinal Match

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team is facing Butler in the semifinals of the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship in Green Bay. Due to technical difficulties, the Horizon League is unable to provide live stats during the match. But, uwmpanthers.com will be presenting updates and commentary on the contest.

3:26 p.m.

Kickoff in the match is set for 4 p.m. The weather in Green Bay is overcast with temperatures in the mid-50's.

The Panthers, the regular season league champions, advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-0 win over Cleveland State Thursday. Butler, meanwhile, beat Wright State 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Panthers beat Butler, 1-0, earlier this season and have won 10-straight in the series.

4:01 p.m.

The match is underway

4:07 p.m.

UWM is controlling the play during the early minutes, posting the only shot of the match.

4:17 p.m.

UWM continues to control much of the play 16 minutes into the match. The Panthers have outshot Butler, 5-0, and have two shots on goal. The Bulldogs have had limited offensive opportunities.

4:27 p.m.

The Panthers are outshooting the Bulldogs, 10-0, but have yet to hit the back of the net. Their best chance came in the 24th minute, when a Taylor Powell header was headed off the line by a Butler defender. Sixteen minutes remain in the first half.

4:40 p.m.

About four minutes remain in the still scoreless first half. The Panthers continue to build on their shot advantage, holding a 12-0 edge over the Bulldogs. They have controlled play throughout the half.

4:47 p.m.

The first half ends, 0-0. UWM still holds a 12-0 advantage on shots and Butler did not have an offensive threat in the first half. The Panthers best chance, as noted earlier, came in the 24th minute when a Taylor Powell header was headed back off the line. That was the only noteworthy scoring threat by the Panthers.

5:04 p.m.

The second half is underway

5:14 p.m.

Butler gets their first good chance of the game, a shot that goes just wide 11 minutes into the second half.

5:18 p.m.

UWM now holds a 14-1 advantage on shots and a 6-0 edge in corners. But, the score remains 0-0 in the 59th minute.

5:20 p.m.

Butler nearly breaks into the scoring column in the 61st minute following a miscommunication by the Panthers in the back. But, Ginny Graczyk was able to clear the ball out of the six-yard box before it rolled into an empty goal.

5:34 p.m.

UWM continues to dominate in the shots-on-goal category, holding a 17-1 edge. But the match is starting to be played more in the midfield, with neither team generating clear offensive chances. There are under 16 minutes remaining in regulation in the scoreless match.

5:44 p.m.

The match remains scorless with under six minutes remaining in regulation. The Panthers have started to keep the ball on their offensive end more of late, though have still not been able to generate a great scoring opportunity in the second half. They now hold an 18-1 edge in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

5:52 p.m.

Regulation play has ended with the match still scoreless. The two teams will now play two, 10-minute golden-goal overtimes. Should the match remain scorless after overtime, the match will move to penalty kicks.

UWM dominated the stat sheet in regulation play, outshooting Butler, 18-1. UWM had the only two shots on goal in the first 90 minutes. In other stat categories, UWM had six corners while Butler had none. UWM was called offsides twice while Butler was whistled once. The Bulldogs were also whistled for 12 fouls while the Panthers were called for 10.

Bailey Briggs leads UWM with four shots while Amanda Winn has three shots.

6:09 p.m.

Neither team was able to score in the first overtime period. UWM did have two shots on goal in the first OT. Butler's best chance came on a free kick about 22 yards from the goal. But, the initial shot went into the wall and the rebound shot went well over the crossbar. There will now be a second, 10-minute overtime.

6:19 p.m.

UWM's Nicole Motl scores the golden goal in the 104th minute as the Panthers advance to their second-straight league tournament title game.

The play was generated by Sarah Teegarden and Claire Pignet, who sent the ball to Motl at the near post. Motl's shot glanced off of a Butler defender and into the back of the net, giving the Panthers their 11th-straight win over the Bulldogs.

The shutout is the 11th of the season for Erin Kane, tying a Horizon League record. UWM is now 12-4-3 and will play either Detroit or Loyola in the title game Sunday.

For the match, UWM outshot Butler, 24-3, and held a 9-0 edge on corners.
