UWM earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament by winning its sixth-straight league regular season championship on the strength of a 6-0-1 record. Detroit finished second at 5-1-1, while tournament host UW-Green Bay was third in the standings with a 5-2 mark. Wright State, at 4-1-2, rounded half the top half of the league, while Butler and Loyola tied for fifth with identical 2-5 records.
