UWM (9-7-1) SPLITS IN WEEKEND TRIP TO MICHIGAN

MILWAUKEE--The UWM women's soccer team managed to pull together after a shaky first half to comeback and defeat Oakland, 2-1, Friday night in Rochester, Michigan. The Panthers overcame a one goal deficit when sophomore Kristin Munyon (Omah, Neb./Burke) scored in the second half, sending the game into overtime. Junior Erin Blaedow (West Allis, Wis./Central) put in the game-winner with only a minute and a half after regulation off an assist from freshman Lisa Bengtsson (Uppsala, Sweden). The Panthers weren't as lucky on Sunday, yielding three goals to Michigan in the first 30 minutes of play. They rallied back in the second half to outshoot the Wolverines, 14-0, and score two goals in the 3-2 loss. Sophmore Amy Oechsner (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) scored in the 76th minute for the Panthers, while Blaedow scored late in the game, rifling in an unassisted 25-yard free kick. LEADING THE MCC UWM ranks first in the conference in corner kicks (88, 5.18/game), shutouts (5), and is tied for the lead in goals allowed (24, 1.41/game). The Panthers' powerful attack also shows as they lead in shots (269, 15.82/game). They are ranked second in assists (24, 1.41/game), and are tied for second in goals (33, 1.94/game). Individually, freshman goalkeeper Kerri St. Aubin (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica) leads all MCC goalkeepers with a GAA of 0.93 and 3 shutouts (0.33/game), Munyon is ranked second in shots (51, 3/game), senior Lindsey Munkwitz (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) is tied for third in assists (5), and Bengtsson is tied for third in goals (7) and ranks fifth in points (17). Munyon is also tied for third in goals (7) and tied for sixth in points (16). UWM GOES FOR ITS BEST EVER MCC RECORD Earning first place in the MCC with a 4-0 record and clinching the top seed in the conference tournament, the Panthers are still looking for one more feat to cap off the regular season. A win over Loyola on Friday would give UWM its first-ever perfect season. The Panthers' best conference finish was during the 1997 campaign with a 4-0-1 record. ENDING THE REGULAR SEASON IN CHICAGO UWM travels to Chicago for Friday's MCC and final game of the regular season against Loyola at 5 p.m.. The Ramblers (6-10) come into the game on a four-game losing streak, and are still searching for their first conference win of the season. Their record stands at 0-3 in the MCC, which places them at the bottom of conference standings. The Ramblers are led in scoring by junior forward Lauren Danner with four goals and four assist for 12 points. She leads the MCC in shots with 54 (3.38/game). Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Pedini also leads the MCC in her respective category, tallying 75 saves (6.25/game) on the season.
UWM leads the all-time series over the Ramblers, 7-1, and have won the last five consecutive matches.
