MILWAUKEE--The UWM women's soccer team played smooth on Sunday as they collected another victory in the conference, this time victimizing Butler to a 2-0 score. The Panthers remain undefeated in the MCC, posting a 4-0 record and commanding the top slot in the league.

Sophomores Katie Kubacki (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) and Amy Oechsner (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) scored the Panther goals, while freshman goalkeeper Kerri St. Aubin (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica) recorded four saves and the shutout.

On Friday night, UWM lost to Minnesota, 1-0, in a tight match in Minneapolis. After the weekend split, the Panthers stand at 8-7-1 overall.

ST. AUBIN COMMANDS THE BOX--The freshman goalkeeper proved strong in the box on Sunday as she recorded her third consecutive MCC shutout and fourth win overall in four starts. Recording a 4-1 record on the season, St. Aubin dropped her GAA to an incredible 0.59 and lead the conference in GAA and shutouts.

UWM CLINCHES REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP-With Sunday's MCC victory over Butler, the Panthers clinched the top spot in the conference and the regular season championship. With one MCC game left in the regular season, the Panthers could still lose and remain at the number one slot because of their advantage in head-to-head competition. UWM looks to post their first-ever undefeated conference season when they play Loyola on October 27th. The Panthers' best regular season record in the conference thus far was in 1997 at 4-0-1.

LEADING THE MCC-UWM ranks first in the conference in goals allowed (20, 1.33/game), corner kicks (82, 5.47/game), and shutouts (5). The Panthers' powerful attack also shows as they lead in shots (245, 16.33/game), far distancing themselves from Wright State's second with 168 cumulative shots. They rank second in goals (29, 1.93/game) and assists (21, 1.40/game).

Individually, sophomore Kristin Munyon (Omaha, Neb./Burke) is ranked second in shots (45, 3/game), senior Lindsey Munkwitz (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) ranks second in assists (5), freshman Lisa Bengtsson (Uppsala, Sweden) is third in goals (7) and fourth in points (16). Munyon also stands at fifth in goals (6) and in points (14).

ROAD TRIP TO MICHIGAN-UWM travels to Michigan this weekend with a game against Oakland on Friday and Michigan on Sunday. The Panthers lead the series with Oakland, 1-0, and will meet the Wolverines for the first time. UWM beat Oakland last season at home, 2-1.

Oakland is coming off its 1-0 weekend loss to conference-rival Oral Roberts, putting them at a 2-1 record in the Mid-Continent Conference and in a three-way tie for first. Ashley McGhee (8 goals, 3 assists) leads the Grizzlies in scoring, followed by Kristen Luoma (7 goals, 1 assist).

Michigan split its weekend Big Ten games, beating Ohio State, 3-1, before losing to No. 6 Penn State, 2-1. Freshman Stephanie Chavez, a native of Shorewood, Wis., recorded her fifth goal of the season in the win and leads the Wolverines in scoring (15 points).
