Panthers Win In Overtime:

In a thrilling, up-tempo match, UWM women's soccer team stepped-up in double-overtime on Friday to defeat regionally-ranked Illinois State, 4-3, at Engelmann Field. Sophomore forward Kristin Munyon (Omaha, Neb./Burke) scored the game-winner in the 107th minute. Munyon also scored the equalizer during regulation time, heading in a corner kick by senior Lindsey Munkwitz (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) to even the score at 3-3. Junior Julie Ruma (Omaha, Neb./Marion) started the game's scoring with a goal in the 15th minute, followed by reshirt freshman Megan Mann's (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) goal to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

UWM Tops MCC With Conference Win:

Playing away in Dayton, Ohio, the Panthers brought home a 2-0 win over conference rival Wright State on Sunday. Freshman forward Lisa Bengtsson (Uppsala, Sweden) scored in the 14th minute off an assist from Munyon, while Munkwitz converted on a penalty kick to finish the first half scoring and the game, 2-0. Picked to finish first in the MCC in a preseason poll of coaches, UWM currently stands at top of the conference with a 2-0 record.

Munyon Named MCC Player Of The Week:

With her crucial two-goal performance in Friday's overtime victory against Illinois State and an assist in the 2-0 win over Wright State, Kristin Munyon was named this week's Brine MCC Player of the Week. Munyon is currently tied with Bengtsson for the Panthers' lead in scoring with 14 points (6 goals, 2 assists).

Panther's Attack Shows In Conference Stats:

* UWM leads MCC in shots (205) and corner kicks (66), * Panthers are second in goals (25) and assists (17). * Munyon and Bengtsson are both tied for third in goals scored (6). * Munkwitz is tied for second in assists (4). * UWM leads MCC in shutouts (3) and in least number of goals allowed (19, 1.58/game)

UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS

UWM hosts MCC rival Detroit-Mercy (6-5) on Friday, October 6, at 4.p.m. on Engelmann Field. Detroit is currently second in MCC standings behind UWM, with a 1-0 record.

* The Titans are coming off a two-game winning streak after defeating Youngstown State, 5-1, on September 28. * Detroit-Mercy leads the MCC in goals scored (29, 2.64/game) and in points (71, 6.45/game). * Detroit's junior forward Gwen Kilfoy and sophomore midfielder Tanya Tiselj are first and second in scoring for the team, as well as the MCC. Kilfoy leads the Titans with eight goals while Tiselj is second with seven. Both lead the MCC in points with 17.
