Panthers Defeat Cobras To End Spring SeasonMay 5, 2004 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer program capped off the spring season with a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Cobras on Saturday afternoon (5/1) at Engelmann Field. The game between the Panthers and Cobras turned into more of a homecoming as Chicago featured UWM Hall of Fame member Lisa Krzykowski along with several other Milwaukee Alumni like Lisa Bengtsson, Fanta Cooper, Erin Shaughnessy and Maggie Suminksi. "At times it almost looked like an alumni game," head coach Michael Moynihan said. "It was great to see a lot of former players back out on Engelmann Field. Seeing them all brought back many good memories." While the moment belonged to the former UWM student-athletes, the day belonged to the current Panthers. Two goals by Andrea Kramer and two more by Elicia Scaife and Liz Chudy propelled Milwaukee to the win and guarantee the Panthers of a winning spring with a record of 4-3-2. "This was a great way for us to end the spring season," Moynihan said. "While the Cobras weren't at full strength, I thought we played very well. Andrea Kramer and Liz Chudy looked great, while Scaife looked dangerous after coming back from an injury. We ended the spring with four shutouts so we've got to be please with that."
UWM not return to game action until the fall season draws near when they open up, in exhibition play, against Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on August 19.
