MILWAUKEE - UWM women's soccer coach Michael Moynihan has announced the addition of 10 players to the 2002 roster: Molly Schneider, Kelly Peterson, Stacey Faude, Elicia Scaife, Rebecca Englund, Molly Duffy, Andrea Kramer, Maria Iaizzo, Andrea Gebelein, and Brenda Neigbauer. Moynihan's class of incoming freshmen will add speed and depth to next season's Panthers, who will look to defend their Horizon League title and return to the NCAA Tournament.

"This class is one of the most complete recruiting classes in the history of our program," Moynihan said. "We have added tremendous athleticism, depth at every position and players that will step in and make an immediate impact. With this group, we will continue to build on last season's success and move this program further into the company of our nation's elite teams."

Molly Schneider (Rochester, Minn./Century H.S.) was an all-state goalkeeper her junior year and has been an all-conference selection the past three years. Schneider is a member of her state and regional ODP teams, while also playing club soccer for the two-time state champion St. Paul Blackhawks. She was also named Rochester's Athlete of the Season and Scholar-Athlete of the Season.

"Molly is one of the top goalkeepers in the midwest," Moynihan said. "She is very explosive and will bring a high level of experience. She has an unbelievable workrate and should have an immediate impact to the team."

Kelly Peterson (Hudson, Wis./Hudson H.S.) is a forward/midfielder and has twice been named to her all-conference team in high school. She is a member of the Wisconsin ODP team and plays club soccer for St. Croix. A versatile and athletic player, Peterson will add depth at each position.

A defender/midfielder, Stacey Faude (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West H.S.) is a two-time all-conference team selection and has played for the state ODP team the past five years. Faude plays club soccer for F.C. Milwaukee Nationals and has helped the team win three state championships. She also helped the team to the regional finals in 1999 and the regional semifinals in 2000.

"Stacey is a skillful and quick midfielder that is great attacking from wide positions," Moynihan said. "She can also play as an outside defender."

Also a member of the F.C. Milwaukee Nationals, Elicia Scaife (Racine, Wis./Racine Park H.S.) will join the Panthers next season as a forward. She helped her club team win four state championships and was twice named to the all-conference team and was also to the all-area team in 2000.

Defender Rebecca Englund (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury H.S.) was named to the all-conference and all-section teams last season as a captain. She plays club soccer for White Bear Lake and and helped the team win the 2001 state championship. Englund is also an all-state track athlete in high school and a two-time state champion in the 4x100 meter relay. She currently is a member of the relay team that holds the all-time Minnesota high school state record for the 4x100m relay set in 2000.

"Rebecca is a very strong and athletic outside defender and plays well on the left side," Moynihan said. "She is very difficult to beat , but also attacks and gets forward well."

The sister of current UWM junior goalkeeper Mary Duffy, Molly Duffy (Madison, Wis./LaFollete H.S.) will join the Panthers as a central defender after suffering consecutive knee injuries. She tore her ACL in one knee, and then tore her other ACL in her first practice back.

"Molly has faced two very difficult setbacks in the past year," Moynihan said. "She hasn't been able to play much in the last year, but was a member of the region pool prior to her injuries. She has a great attitude and we are confident she will have a full recovery and make an impact for us on the field in the future."

Andrea Kramer (MoundsView, Minn./Shoreview H.S.) is a forward/midfielder and another stellar addition to the Panther program. Named all-conference and all-state this past fall, Kramer plays club soccer with the St. Paul Blackhawks.

"Andrea is extremely fast and athletic, and also very aggressive," Moynihan said. "These qualities combined make her an impact player that can unsettle her opponents with her presence."

A member of her high school track team, Maria Iaizzo (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake H.S.) will give the Panthers excellent speed up top. Iaizzo helped her club team, White Bear Lake, win the 2001 state championship.

"She's a great goal scorer who strikes the ball well and has the ability to create chances off the ball," Moynihan said.

UWM adds further depth to the goalkeeping position with the addition of Andrea Gebelein (Coralville, Iowa/Iowa City West H.S.). A physically strong and steady goalkeeper, Gebelein helped her high school team to two conference championships and a state runner-up title last season. She plays for the Iowa Soccer Club and has been a member of the ODP for the past five years.

Brenda Neigbauer (New Berlin, Wis./Catholic Memorial) is a defender/midfielder that helped her high school team to a state championship in 2000. She is a member of the state ODP team and plays for the F.C. Milwaukee Nationals, helping the club team to four state championships.
