Women's Soccer Tops Northern Illinois, 3-1, in Regular Season Finale

Panthers unbeaten streak reaches six games.

MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's soccer team finished its regular season Sunday afternoon with a win over Northern Illinois, 3-1, at Engelmann Field. The Panthers (10-5-2) are on a six-game unbeaten streak as they head into the MCC tournament starting on Thursday, Nov. 5, in Indianapolis.

"We feel really good about the way we've been playing," said UWM head coach Michael Moynihan. "We've put together a good streak against some tough teams. Right now we feel we can beat anybody in our conference."

Katie Waltenberger scored two goals in the contest for the Panthers, her third in two games. Her first goal came in the 25th minute off a double assist from Michelle Koziczkowski and Lindsey Munkwitz. Stefanie Hosni scored on a breakaway off a pass from Erin Blaedow to put UWM up 2-0 at half time. Waltenberger's second goal came off a penalty kick rebound to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.

Moynihan said, "We feel that were playing some of our best soccer and our confidence is there."

The Panthers enter the conference tournament with a 2-2-1 MCC record. Game time and opponent have not yet been determined.
