Normal, Ill. - Normal, Ill. - The UWM women's soccer team lost a 2-0 game to the Illinois State Redbirds Friday afternoon in Normal.

Despite strong efforts from freshman midfielder Katie Kubacki and sophomore midfielder Julie Ruma the Panthers fell to 9-7-1 on the season. "We had a few individual efforts that were good, but we just couldn't put the whole package together", said Assistant Head Coach David Nikolic.

The defense for the Panthers looked solid as they held the Redbirds to one goal before halftime. The goal was scored in the 30th minute of play. However, the second half started out on the wrong note, as the Panthers gave up a goal in the 49th minute of play.

The Panthers were able to limit the Redbirds scoring to 2 goals on 14 shots, but they were unable to get their own offense going after Illinois State scored. "We just couldn't sustain offensive attacks to get goal scoring opportunities today", said Nikolic.

UWM travels to Madison to face the Badgers Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
