Freshman Lisa Bengtsson scores in 1-1 draw.

Milwaukee--UWM concluded its exhibition season this past weekend with a 5-1 victory over its alumni on Saturday and a 1-1 tie away against Northwestern on Sunday.
Freshman forward Lisa Bengtsson (Uppsala, Sweden/Fyrisskolan Club) scored first for the Panthers off an assist from senior forward Fanta Cooper (Oklahoma City, Okla/Westmoore). The play began when Cooper broke free from Northwestern's defense and received a through-ball into the attacking third. The 1999 MCC Player of the Year beat NU's goalkeeper on the dribble and slid the ball past a defender to find a streaking Bengtsson, who finished it into the open net from about seven yards out.
Head coach Michael Moynihan was encouraged by the back-to-back performances.
"We showed good depth in both games, and I liked the competitiveness," Moynihan said. "We made a lot of progress last spring, and I think we picked up right where we left off. The main thing I was looking for was finding ways to blend in new players with returning players. I wasn't necessarily looking for results, but at the same time building a team attitude where winning is a priority."
The Panthers open up their regular season schedule with a game against Wisconsin on Friday, August 25th, at 6 p.m. at Marquette Valley Fields.
