Kristen St. Clair is in her first season with the Panthers after a two-year stint with UC-Santa Barbara. Among her responsiblities with the Panthers will be working with the goalkeepers, recruiting, training session preparation and match management. "We were excited to bring Kristen into the Panther family and we can't wait to get started working with her. She is determined, energetic and extremely professional," head coach Michael Moynihan said. "UWM women's soccer is well-established on the national scene and Kristen will help take our program to even higher levels." "It's an honor to be joining a staff and a program that has truly proven itself on the national level. Every year it continues to make its mark nationally and turns out top student-athletes both on and off the field," St. Clair said. "Mike and David (Nikolic) have done a great job building a fantastic program with a rich history in the area. I look forward to helping UWM continue its success and move to the next level." St. Clair served as goalkeeper coach with the Gauchos in 2004 and 2005. In her first season, the team posted 10 shutouts, saw its save percentage raised above 80 percent, went 13-6-2 and won the Big West Conference championship. Prior to her time at UCSB, St. Clair served as goalkeeper coach at her alma mater Westmont College in 2003. The Warriors won NAIA National Championship that season and set a school record with a 0.48 goals against average. She also was a team coach and director of goalkeeping for Futbol Club of Santa Barbara from 2003-06. "Her command of goalkeeping is exceptional and I am certain that our goalkeepers will blossom under her tutelage. We are excited to have a full-time goalkeeper coach for the first time," Moynihan said. "She is much more than a goalkeeper coach though, and her soccer knowledge is well-rounded." St. Clair was a four-year All-American at Westmont, where she posted a 0.62 goals against average in almost 7,000 career minutes. She led the Warriors to a National Championship in 1999, earning tournament Outstanding Defensive Player honors (pictured). Westmont made the NAIA Tournament in all four of her years, reaching the Final Four in 1997 and going 8-1-2 in tourney games. St. Clair also played with the Silicon Valley Red Devils of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and was the only NAIA player invited to participate and play in the Umbro Senior All-Star game/WUSA Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Calif. She holds an NSCAA Advanced National License and NSCAA Goalkeeper license. St. Clair graduated from Westmont in 2001 with a degree in kinesiology. |
