Milwaukee Announces Team Awards At Post-Season Banquet4/30/2008 - Junior Traci Edwards was named Team MVP for the 2007-08 season the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team announced its team awards last Sunday at its annual post-season banquet. Edwards received the team's most valuable player honor for the third time, as well as the Top Rebounder Award. Junior Turquoise McCain was named the Best Defensive Player and was awarded with the Nicholas Scholarship. Senior Aubri Rote was honored with the Scholastic Team Award and the award for the highest free throw percentage. Other awards included freshman Jenilee Klomstad as Most Improved, junior Markita Barnes earning the Playmaker Award and junior Katie Fournier as Most Inspirational. Danielle Jorgenson, a senior at Logan High School in La Crosse, Wis., has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and join the women's basketball team, head coach Sandy Botham announced today. Jorgenson is one of two players the Panthers signed for the 2008-09 season. Amanda Viehauser of Minneapolis, Minn., signed in November. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee head women's basketball coach Sandy Botham will be inducted into the Madison Sports Hall of Fame, the club announced Friday. Botham will be inducted alongside Ed Nuttycombe, Wayne "Knobby' Kelliher, and Glenn Borland on Wednesday, June 4, at the Induction Ceremony and Dinner at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
