The Klotsche Center
The Klotsche Center has been home to the UWM basketball program since 1977 when the campus facility was completed.
The 1998-99 season marks the completion of a $2 million renovation of Klotsche that will include new seating-featuring comfort and seatback seating, a new scoreboard and new backboards. In 1996, new wood flooring and a new indoor track were added to Klotsche.
This year, the mens basketball team returns to the Klotsche Center, bringing its homecourt back to campus after eight years at the Wisconsin Center downtown. The womens team also plays all of its games in the Klotsche Center.
Klotsche can hold up to 5,000 spectators for basketball. The largest crowd to see a game in Klotsche was 3,033 in a 92-71 win over Central Michigan on March 7, 1992.
Klotsche is used as a practice facility for most of UWM's varsity sports and is the homecourt for not only mens and womens basketball, but womens volleyball, indoor track and field and swimming and diving.
The Klotsche Center is home to UWMs intramural program and recreation center. It features a 25-meter pool, racquetball courts, weight rooms, training rooms and classrooms for instructional use. In the fall, the Universitys first Convocation was held in the Klotsche Center on October 16 giving students its first glimpse of the newly-remodeled center.
