Stampley Named Assistant Coach For UWM Women's Basketball
July 26, 2001 MILWAUKEE--(July 26) Shonda Stampley has been named an assistant coach for UWM women's basketball, head coach Sandy Botham announced. Stampley becomes Botham's third full-time assistant. She will primarily work with the posts and will be active in the Panthers' recruiting process. "We are very excited to have Shonda join our family," Botham said. "She not only has an incredible passion for the game, but more importantly a passion for working with and developing student-athletes. Her strengths will be a great compliment to both our team and coaching staff." Stampley joins UWM's staff after serving as an assistant coach at Bowling Green State last season and at Eastern Illinois in 1999. Her coaching career began in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she coached for seven years and obtained her master's degree. A native of Baton Rouge, La., Stampley played college basketball from 1985-89 at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La.
