UWM Signs Sicarra Farris To Women's Basketball
May 16, 2002
Milwaukee - UWM women's basketball coach Sandy Botham announced the signing of Sicarra Farris (Racine, Wis./Park) to the 2002-03 roster. Farris becomes the fourth of four players recruited locally to join the Panthers next season. The 5-foot-6 Farris was a three-year starting point guard for Racine Park High School, earning first team all-division and all-county honors and was named all-state honorable mention. She averaged 12 points per game, shooting 53 percent from the field. Farris also averaged three steals, 3.4 assists and five rebounds per game. "We're thrilled to get another local product into our program," Botham said. "Sicarra embodies all that we look for in a student-athlete. She has great character, leadership and work ethic, and she's a real team player. She's a tremendous athlete with a lot of good skills. Sicarra likes to attack the basket and shoot the pull-up jumper. She's strong around the basket and has good body control. She also takes pride in her defense--just a very versatile player." Farris joins Molly O'Brien (Columbus, Wis./Columbus), Nichole Drummond (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and Anne Witte (Mukwonago, Wis./ Mukwonago) as incoming freshmen from around the state. This makes it the second consecutive year Botham has had an all-Wisconsin class of recruits.
"Sicarra is someone we can mold into a great player--she's got a strong desire to succeed. She definitely adds to a very talented class of all-Wisconsin players," Botham said.
