MILWAUKEE--UWM women's basketball coach Sandy Botham has announced the date and site for the first annual UWM Women's Basketball 2001 Golf Classic.

The outing is set for Friday, August 24, for a 10:30 shotgun start and will be held at South Hills Country Club.

South Hills Country Club is located at 3047 Highway 41 in Franksville, Wis., and can be found on the web at www.southhillscc.com. Brochures will be available soon, but please call UWM associate head coach Sara Liebscher at 414-229-5661 for more information.

"It's exciting that our program has grown to the level where it can support an event such as this," said Botham. "Coming off the year we just had, it is a great time to be hosting our first golf classic. We hope we will be able to draw on the success and exposure we received toward the end of the season. The excitement of UWM women's basketball is really strong right now and it's great time to be a Panther."

The Panthers are coming off their dream season this past year, making school history by winning the basketball program's first MCC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. They ended the 2000-01 season with a 19-11 record, and recorded a perfect 7-0 conference record at home for the second straight year.
