Women's Basketball Announces Postseason Award Winners

Schaffeld, Stoltenberg named co-MVPs

Milwaukee - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team announced its season-ending awards, as voted by the players, at the team's banquet on Sunday.

Senior guard Daryl Schaffeld (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) and junior guard Teri Stoltenberg (Green Bay, Wis./Pulaski) were named the team's Most Valuable Players. Schaffeld is the UWM and the Midwestern Collegiate Conference career three-point leader. Stoltenberg led the team and ranked fifth in the conference in assists.

Junior forward Nicole Luchsinger (Janesville, Wis./Parker) was named the team's Best Defensive Player. Luchsinger was named to the MCC All-Defensive team.

Sophomore center Betsy Brawner (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) was voted the team's Most Inspirational Player and freshman guard Antoinette Gregory (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) was voted the Most Improved Player.

The team also gave three Academic Achievement Awards to players with a 3.70 cumulative grade point average or higher: junior center Janelle Jonason (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center), Brawner and Stoltenberg.
