MILWAUKEE- The UWM women's basketball team enters the final week of the regular season in second place with two games to play.

The Panthers (8-4 in MCC games) have a half-game lead over third-place Detroit (8-5). UWM wraps up the regular season by playing host to Butler on Thursday and Wright State on Saturday. Detroit plays Cleveland State on Saturday.

Since UWM holds the tie breaker against the Titans, the Panthers' need to win one game or have Detroit lose to lock up the MCC Tournament's second seed.

The Panthers split games on the road last week, knocking off Loyola, 75-72, and falling at UIC, 63-45.

Against the Ramblers, Daryl Schaffeld (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) put up a UWM season-high 24 points and passed for a career-best eight assists. She also stole the ball with 1.9 seconds remaining to seal the win. Other double-figure scorers included Jessica Wilhite (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), who scored 18 points, Kelly Lubbers (Chanhassen, MN/Chaska), who scored 11 points, and Corrin Von Wald (Hudson, Wis./Hudson), who scored 10 points.

Against UIC, Nicole Luchsinger (Janesville, Wis./Parker) led UWM with her 13 points. Von Wald posted her third career double-double and second of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. It marked UIC's fifth consecutive win.

UWM wraps up the regular season this week. Butler (10-13, 6-6 MCC) comes to town on Thursday for the North Shore Bank Krowd the Klotsche Night. Free ticket coupons are available at all North Shore Bank locations throughout Wisconsin. Last year's event set a UWM women's basketball single-game attendance record of 2,629.

On Saturday, UWM plays host to Wright State (7-17, 5-7 MCC).
