MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's basketball team dropped a pair of conference games last week on the road, but faces two state of Wisconsin opponents this week in Marquette and UW-Green Bay.

The Panthers play at the Wisconsin Center Arena on Wed., Feb. 17 against crosstown rival Marquette.

On Sat., Feb. 20, UWM plays host to state-rival and MCC leading UWGB, the annual North Shore Bank Krowd the Klotsche game. Free tickets are available at all North Shore Bank branches.

Last week, UWM dropped a game at Detroit, 65-60, on Thurs., Feb. 11, and fell in overtime to Cleveland State, 85-80,

Against the Titans, Detroit's pressure defense led to 24 steals and 33 Panther turnovers. The turnovers negated a 42-24 rebounding advantage.

Freshman Andrea Filipek (Cicero, Ill-Morton West) and sophomore Janelle Jonason (Brooklyn Park, Minn-Park Center) scored 12 points each.

Against Cleveland State, a hot hand from three-point range could not save the team from a persistent Vikings squad.

The Vikings never led during regulation, trailing UWM by 11 at one point in the first half and 10 early in the second half. CSU tied UWM for the first time with five seconds left in the second half, Leanna Hicks hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 65.

UWM's Corrin Von Wald (Hudson, Wis.-Hudson) hit two free throws with three seconds left to give UWM the lead, but Michelle Wolfe hit a wide-open 18-foot jumper as time expired in regulation.

"They helped us out and made a stupid foul and Corrin hit some big free throws. But we didn't match-up coming out of that."

In overtime, CSU managed only one field goal, but hit 15 of 22 free-throw attempts, the result of 11 Panther fouls in overtime.

Kelly Lubbers (Chanhassen, Minn.-Chaska) posted UWM highs of 17 points and 7 rebounds. Amy Wardle (Clarendon Hills, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) (14 points) and Nicole Luchsinger (Janseville, Wis.-Parker) (11 points) also reached double figures for the Panthers.
