Edwards Named Horizon League Player Of The Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 25, 2008) - Junior Traci Edwards of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for Feb. 25, the league office announced today. Edwards scored a school-record 45 points at Loyola last Thursday and averaged 32.5 points per game for the week. The award is her second of the season and the school record-tying seventh of her career. Edwards hit 12-of-14 from the field, 20-of-22 from the free three throw line and made her only three-point attempt in amassing her 45 points in an 83-78 win against the Ramblers. She broke her own school record of 42 points, set last season, and broke school and league records for free throws made in a game. Saturday at UIC, Edwards tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds in a heart-breaking, double-overtime loss. It was her 15 double-double and her 16th double-digit rebounding games of the season, both tying her own school records. Milwaukee returns to action with one game, playing at Green Bay Saturday. The Panthers are fighting for second place in the league standings and are a half game back of Cleveland State and Wright State for that spot.
