Krowd The Klotsche Set For Saturday's Women's Hoops Tilt
Jan. 14, 2003 MILWAUKEE - The sixth annual "Krowd the Klotsche" event is set to return Saturday (Jan. 18) when the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team plays host to No. 16 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The game, which is set for 2 p.m. in the Klotsche Center, will feature a free ticket promotion through North Shore Bank in an attempt to fill the arena for the women's hoops showdown between the two long-time, in-state rivals. North Shore Bank, a long-time sponsor of UWM athletics, features ticket coupons at branches throughout the state that fans can turn into free tickets for Saturday's UWM-UWGB women's basketball game in Milwaukee. Fans can receive the vouchers at any North Shore Bank location and then redeem the voucher for a free ticket to the Horizon League showdown. Fans with a ticket voucher can either call the UWM ticket office at 414-229-5886, stopping by the UWM ticket office, or bring the voucher to the ticket gate on Saturday. "Saturday's game should be a lot of fun and 'Krowd the Klotsche' is a great event," UWM head coach Sandy Botham said. "It's exciting to have a Top 20 team like UW-Green Bay come to the Klotsche Center in front of what could will be a record crowd. North Shore Bank has been a loyal sponsor of the program and hopefully we can put on a good show for everyone in attendance." The event, which is now in its sixth season, helped set an attendance mark last year as 4,137 fans pilled into the Klotsche Center for the UWM-UWGB women's basketball game Feb. 23, 2002. The game will mark the 50th meeting all-time between the two school's, and marks UWM's longest current series with any school.
Milwaukee will enter play 6-9 on the year overall and 2-3 in league play following its biggest win of the year, a 79-59 trouncing of Youngstown State University on Jan. 11. Meanwhile, UWGB, with a 13-2 record and 4-0 league mark, enters the week ranked No. 16 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
