MILWAUKEE -- UWM's Maria Viall (Waukesha, Wis./North) was named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league announced today.

The sophomore center was recognized by the league after two solid performances last weekend in helping UWM to a pair of wins. The Panthers beat Loyola, 90-61, on Thursday and UIC, 67-62, on Satureday. She posted consecutive double-doubles for a total of three in the last four games.

Against Loyola, Viall scored 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. She also tallied three blocks and two steals. In the close win over UIC, she led with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds and also recorded two steals.

Viall leads the team in scoring with 15.9 ppg and 7.0 rpg, and ranks third in the Horizon League in both categories. She has been consistent all season, scoring in double digits through all 13 games.
