Women's Basketball Falls to Missouri
Dec. 30, 1999 COLUMBIA, Mo. - The UWM women's basketball team fell to 5-5 on the season with a 90-47 loss at Missouri on Thursday night. Missouri improved to 10-1. UWM trailed by three at halftime, but scored only 20 second half points in the loss. "We need to work on putting two halves together," said UWM coach Sandy Botham. "We came out strong in the first half, but they took it to us in the second half. We got back on our heels when they pressed. We need to fight fire with fire." The Panthers were led by Teri Stoltenberg's 10 points. After trailing by three at halftime, 30-27, the Panthers tied the game, 34-34, on a Stoltenberg pull-up jumper with 17:48 left in the game. But Missouri answered with an Amanda Lassiter three-pointer, which started a 37-5 run and gave the Tigers a 71-39 lead with 9:31 to go. Missouri scored 30 straight points during the span. The Panthers play at Central Michigan on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
