When it comes to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball program there are many names synonymous with the program's success. At the top of that list should be former player, former director of basketball operations, and current assistant coach Jen Greger. Greger, who spent the last two seasons as the program's director of operations, will begin her first season on the sidelines in 2004-05.
"Having Jen come over to the coaching side of things is huge for the program," Botham said. "The players really respect her and she has so much credibility due to her success as a player here. She really brings a lot of things as a coach."
Over the past two seasons Greger has been an invaluable asset to the UWM women's basketball staff. As the director of operations Greger was responsible for the administrative and professional needs of the program, including budgets, marketing plans and procedures while dealing with equipment issues and all game-day operational functions.
Greger moved to the basketball side of things three years ago after serving as the assistant director of camps and intramurals at UWM from 1999-02. Prior to that, she spent time as an assistant coach at Western Michigan University (1997-98) and as the administrative assistant for the Panther women (1999-2001).
On the court, Greger, who played for the Panthers from 1994-97, ended her career as UWM's leader in three- pointers made with 125 while she currently sits fourth on Milwaukee's all time scoring list with 1,385 points. During her senior season in 1996-97, she was named the MCC Player of the Year while averaging a team and league-best 19.7 points per game. The Panthers added 12 wins to their previous year's win total to post the fifth-best turnaround in Division I basketball.
The 29-year old Sheboygan-native currently lives in Milwaukee.
