Lindsay Bronson was named to the Panther coaching staff in September after serving as Director of Basketball Operations for the 2006-07 season. Among her duties will be working with the post players and opponent scouting. "Lindsay has proven herself in the last year," UWM head coach Sandy Botham said of her appointment. "She has shown a lot of passion and commitment to the program. We were glad to promote her and give her on-the-court opportunities. Lindsay has great knowledge of the game and confidence in that. "She was a no-brainer to fill our open position this off-season. She knows the program inside and out and we are definitely excited to give her the opportunity." "I'm excited for the chance to get on the floor here at Milwaukee," Bronson said. "I spent this last year in the program and appreciate the opportunity Coach Botham has given me. I've seen the potential this team has and I look forward to helping the Panthers win another league title and return to the NCAA Tournament." Bronson is no stranger to the area, hailing from nearby Glendale, Wis., and coaching and playing throughout the area. She joined the Milwaukee staff after one season as an assistant at her alma mater, Cardinal Stritch. In 2005-06, Bronson helped the Wolves to a 28-5 record and a trip to the NAIA Division II Tournament, where they advanced to the Elite Eight. While at Stritch, she worked with preseason conditioning, video exchange, scouting and recruiting. Bronson also worked with the CSU guards, helping one to earn Third Team All-America honors. Prior to returning to her collegiate alma mater, she spent the 2004-05 season as a varsity assistant at her high school alma mater, Nicolet. From 2000-06, Bronson was a head AAU girls' basketball coach with the Rising Force Basketball Academy in Milwaukee. She also served as basketball camp and clinic director at Nicolet, while coaching at a number of camps throughout the state, including Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marquette, UW-Green Bay and Rick Majerus' basketball camps. Bronson was a four-year letterwinner at Cardinal Stritch, playing in three NAIA Tournaments and contributing to a school-record 31 wins her senior season. She was a two-time NAIA Academic All-American and served as team captain as a junior and senior. She graduated from Stritch in 2004 with a bachelor of arts in mathematics and secondary education. Bronson hails from an athletic family, as her mother, Jody, is the women's tennis coach at Marquette University and her sister Corey is the head varsity girls' basketball coach at Nicolet High School. Her younger brother, Tanner, is a senior on the Wisconsin men's basketball team. |
