Uphoff Named League Runner Of The Week

Sept. 13, 2005

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Junior Ben Uphoff of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 12, the league office announced today.

The honor is the first of his career.

Last Friday, Uphoff placed second among Division I runners at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill. He crossed the line with a time of 25:32, as the sixth overall finisher. His performance helped the Panthers to a second-place showing at the meet. UWM scored 52 points, just 19 points off the lead.

Sophomore Angie Huebner was also named the League Women's Runner of the Week, giving Milwaukee a sweep of the league's weekly honors.

Uphoff and the Panthers return to action Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The Griak Invite will give Milwaukee its first taste of national competition, as the meet is attended by some of the top teams in the nation and is broken into multiple races.
