Milwaukee Finishes Season With 20th-Place Finish
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Nov. 15, 2008) - Junior Ryan Mleziva paced the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's cross country team to a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with an 87th-place finish Saturday morning at the meet hosted by Purdue University. The Panthers finished with 589 points as the third Horizon League team and the 20th overall. Wisconsin took first place at the meet with 39 points. Mleziva crossed the line in the 10,000m reace with a time of 33:28. He was followed by junior Jason Axt in 114th place and freshman Dan Uphoff not much farther back in 118th. Axt and and Uphoff were seperated by just five seconds with Axt crossing the line in 34:13 and Uphoff 34:18. Freshman Chris Schuenke finished just 12 seconds behind Uphoff (34:30) in 128th place, while freshman Ryan Baumgartner rounded out the scoring runners in 152nd place. Juniors Mike Sorenson and Eric Pitt also ran at the meet. Sorenson placed 160th in in 35:36 and Pitt was nine seconds back in 35:45 and 165th place.
