Four Panthers Named Academic All-League
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 11, 2008) - A league-high four members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team were named to the Academic All-Horizon League Team, the league announced this week. The four Panthers are a part of 10 members of Milwaukee's track and field honored and a league-high 16 honorees throughout the UWM athletic department. Seniors Justin Bohler and Larry Ehrhorn and junior Adam Schleis are each repeat selections, while junior Adam Podd was honored for the first time. Milwaukee won a fifth-straight league indoor championship this season behind multiple scoring efforts from each of its honorees. Bohler took second in the heptathlon at the league championships, earning all-league second-team honors. He also placed third in the 60m hurdles. A civil engineering major, Bohler maintains a 3.352 grade point average and was also an academic team member for the 2007 outdoor season. Ehrhorn literally was the Panthers' throwing corps this season, posting strong performances in both the shot put and weight throw at the league championships. He placed third in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw at the meet and was the league's athlete of the week once. Ehrhorn is an education major and boasts a 3.291 GPA. Schleis successfully defending a pair of league titles during the indoor season. He won both the long jump and 60m hurdles. He also earlier set the school long jump record at the UWM Panther Tune Up, earning Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors after the effort. Schleis is majoring in history and with a 3.360 GPA joined Bohler in earning outdoor academic team honors, as well.
Podd scored in both the pole vault and heptathlon at the league championships. He was fourth in the heptathlon and fifth in the pole vault. He is an accounting/finance major and has maintained a 3.864 GPA. |
