Panthers Send 10 To Indiana Relays This WeekendMILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 31, 2007) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams will be in limited action this weekend, as they will send 10 athletes to compete at the Indiana Relays, Feb. 2-3, in Bloomington, Ind. The UWM men will be represented by seniors Trentin Edwards and Jeremy Majors, sophomore Adam Schleis and freshmen Isaiah Adams, Tyler Bucholz and Quinn Mongoven. The group will be joined by women's team members senior Timeka Walker, sophomore Jenni Saarinen and freshmen Erin Havener and Kelsey Conrad. Edwards is expected to compete in the 200m and could enter the 60m. The Milwaukee native leads the Horizon League in both categories entering the week. Majors, a two-time league 800m champion outdoors, will be running in the 800m for the first time this season. Schleis should compete in either the long jump or 60m hurdles. He is coming off a school-record performance in the latter last weekend when he ran a time of 8.21 to edge the old mark of 8.22. Adams will join Edwards in the 200m, while Bucholz will run in the 400m. Both Adams and Bucholz sit fourth in the league in their respective events. Mongoven, who cleared the third-best height in school history (6-9 3/4) in his collegiate debut, will compete in the high jump. Walker, this week's league female athlete of the week, is set to compete in the 200m, but could also enter the 60m. She won both events last weekend at the Madison Elite Invitational. Saarinen will compete in both the 60m hurdles and long jump, while Havener will compete in the pole vault and Conrad the 400m. Havener currently leads the league in the pole vault with her height of 11-7 3/4 sitting seven and a half inches better than the first non-UWM athlete. Saarinen will be making her season debut in the long jump after competing in her first 60m hurdles of 2007 last weekend and Conrad will look to improve on her 400m time that already sits third in the league. The remainder of the squad returns to action Feb. 9-10 at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic.
