2008 Indoor Individual Finishes and Top Times in PDF Format MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 30, 2008) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team ventures to Cedar Falls, Iowa, Saturday, returning to action at the Northern Iowa Classic. The Panthers are coming off a successful meet last weekend at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison. They posted 12 top-five finishes and had a handful of noteworthy performances at the non-scoring meet. Senior Justin Bohler broke his own school record in taking fourth in the heptathlon. Bohler racked up 4,894 to break the mark of 4,667 he set last season at the same meet. Junior Adam Schleis and sophomores Quinn Mongoven and Tyler Bucholz also improved their standings in the school record books. Schleis leapt a personal-best 23-0 in the long jump to move into a tie for fourth in school history in the event. Mongoven also bettered his PR in the high jump, clearing 6-10 ¼. He remained third in school history, but continues to draw closer to the school record of 6-11 ½. In the 400m, Bucholz ran a time of 48.69 to tie the fourth-best time in the event. Senior Larry Ehrhorn also had a strong meet after a pair of wins in his season-opener. He took third in the weight throw (55-5 ½) and fourth in the shot put (50-0 ¾). After that season-opening performance at the Division I Invite, Ehrhorn was named the league's athlete of the week.
Milwaukee returns to the Northern Iowa Classic after not competing at the meet last season. Prior to that, the Panthers had traveled the Cedar Falls each year since 2002. UWM won five events and took second five more times at the meet in 2006. The Panthers are in action again at the Akron Open, Feb. 8, in Ohio. |
