Wagoner, Majors Finish Second And Third In 800m At Drake Relays
DES MOINES, Iowa (April 29, 2006) - Senior Gabe Wagoner and junior Jeremy Majors finished second and third in the 800m to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team on the final day of competition at the prestigious Drake Relays, Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. Wagoner and Majors finished together, with Wagoner earning runner-up honors in 1:51.26. Majors was right next to him, taking third with a time of 1:51.27. Milwaukee also got a top-10 finish from sophomore Darren Cole in the triple jump, while senior Josh Nygren finished just outside the top-10 in the 3000m steeplechase. Cole leapt 47-2 1/4 for eighth place in the triple jump, while Nygren finished 11th in the steeplechase with a time of 9:31.00. Some Panthers will return to action next weekend at the Billy Hayes Invitational, May 5, in Bloomington, Ind., while the rest of the team will be in action at the Wisconsin Twilight the next day in Madison, Wis. The weekend is Milwaukee's final tune up before the Horizon League Championships, May 11-12 in Indianapolis, Ind.
