The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team announced the signing of two new athletes to National Letters of Intent. Chase Gravengood and Jeremy Seibel will be joining the Panthers for the 2004-05 season. Gravengood, a senior at Hartland Arrowhead High School, will bring an impressive list of credentials with him to UWM. The Oconomowoc-native has been a member of a Warhawks' team that has won two state championships at the Division I level. Adding to the list, Gravengood has won numerous state championships while swimming for the Lake Country Swim Club. Gravengood also has his name written in the record books for being a part of the state record-holding 200 medley relay team and a part of the 200 medley relay (short meter course) team that holds the national high school record. His parents are Charles and Susan Gravengood from Oconomowoc. "Chase is one of the best all-around swimmers in the state," Panther head coach Dave Clark noted. "He has been part of state championship high school teams and club teams the past two year. He has a winning attitude and work ethic and will be a competitor in the Horizon League immediately." Also joining this year's recruiting class is Jeremy Seibel, a breaststroker and distance swimmer from Cedarburg High School. Seibel has been a three-year letter winner as a Bulldog. He was named the Bulldogs' most-improved swimmer as a freshman and won the team's most valuable performer award his sophomore and junior year. As a junior, Seibel was also the North Shore Conference champion in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle. He also scored a third-place finish in the 2003 sectionals in the 500 freestyle. His parents are Brian and Jean Seibel from Grafton.
"Jeremy is an exciting find," Clark stated. "He has the ability to do multiple events and will contribute to the program in many ways. He's extremely competitive and should be an impact swimmer from day one."
