SCOUTING THE MEET:
The Flames are coming off a strong performance against Eastern Illinois Nov. 1, not losing a single event in defeating EIU, 165-64. Brian Anderson (50 free/100 free) and Zach Van Swol (200 free/100 back) each won twice to lead the way. The team also dropped a 120.5-116.5 decision to Wright State in its season opener, with Evan Dunn recording wins in the 1000 freestyle and 200 IM. The Panthers hold a 14-4-1 lead in the all-time series with UIC, but the Flames have had the best of it recently. The Horizon League foe has gone 3-1-1 against Milwaukee the past five years.

North Dakota begins its first season of full NCAA D-I competition after moving up from D-II. A year ago, the team finished fifth at the NCAA meet and also won its 23rd North Central Conference title in the last 25 years. Head coach Maviael Sampaio was named the league's coach of the year as well.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL:
Junior Jeremy Waldhart won three events to lead the men to a convincing victory over Wheaton College Nov. 1. The Panthers dominated the meet against the Thunder, winning 10 of 11 events in improving to 18-1 in the all-time series with the 123-74 victory.

In addition to Waldhart, several freshmen made key contributions on the day. The list of newcomers to claim victories today included Kyle Trelka, Evan Green, Jordan Diel, and Brady Huemann. In addition, sophomore Dan Heraly and both relay teams also topped the competition.

Waldhart made it three-for-three on the day, winning the 1000 free in 10:12.22, the 400 IM in 4:15.24 and the 200 breaststroke in 1:16.11. He won five times between Friday night and Saturday. Heraly was at it again, winning for the third time this weekend when he topped the field in the 200 free in a time of 1:46.41.

Trelka led the way in the 50 free in a time of 21.82. He led a UWM contingent in the event, with Diel second in 22.83, freshman Sam Keele third in 22.99 and fellow freshman Sky Boggio fourth in a time of 23.02. Green won the 200 butterfly in 2:00.32, Diel in the 100 free in 49.54 and Huemann the 200 backstroke in 2:01.33. Keele actually came in with the best time in the 200 breast in 2:15.26, but was exhibitioning the event.

LAST YEAR:
Robby Leibold and PJ Rongitsch each won twice to help the team to a split with UIC and North Dakota a year ago. Jeremy Waldhart also added an individual victory as the Panthers beat the Fighting Sioux, 159-139, but fell to the Flames, 161-138.

Leibold continued his impressive start to the season, winning two more times in addition to a third-place finish. He now has nine wins in 14 races this season. He won the 1,650 freestyle in 16:19.92 and then added a win in the 500 free with a season-best time of 4:42.26. He also placed third in the 200 fly in a time of 1:55.67.

Rongitsch won both boards, recording point totals of 271.40 on the one-meter and 270.10 on the three-meter board. Waldhart won for the third time this season, taking first in the 200 backstroke in a season-best time of 1:56.26.

Chase Gravengood had a solid meet, contributing three second-place finishes to help out the Panther effort. He took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.59), the 100 butterfly (51.49) and the 400 IM (4:13.02). In the 200 breast, he was touched out of a victory by less then a half-second.
