MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Michael Belting was named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week after winning the 400 meter freestyle at the Time Trial 100s Mon., Jan. 6, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the league office announced today. It is the first time in his career that Belting has received the league's award.

Belting won the 400 meter freestyle, edging out LaSalle University's Eric Limbach by nearly two-tenths of a second to finish first. Belting is currently second in the Horizon League in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles, along with having the fifth-fastest time in the league in the 200 freestyle.

Baseheart joins Josh Baseheart as Panthers honored by the Horizon League during the season. Baseheart earned the award for the week ending Nov. 12.

The Panthers will resume their season on Jan. 24 when they host league rivals UIC, Butler and UW-Green Bay, along with Northern Iowa and Illinois State's womens teams in the Bill Ritter Invitational. The four-session event begins at 11 a.m. with the diving competition, to be held at Schroeder YMCA in Brown Deer, Wis.
