WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming team dominated its meet against Wheaton College Friday evening, winning 10 of 11 events in rolling to a 140-57 victory at Chrouser Pool. The Panthers improved to 19-1 all-time against the Thunder with the win.

In addition to both relay teams, Milwaukee got individual victories from seniors Jeremy Waldhart and Ed Lichinsky, juniors Dan Heraly and Matt Kluczinske, sophomore Brady Huemann and freshmen Cris Smith, Zachary Kraai and Nathan Welchlin.

"It's always nice to swim well and it was great to almost win every event," UWM head coach Erica Janssen said. "We had a lot of people swim events that they usually do not swim and plenty of them stepped up. Seeing the freshmen contribute like this really is impressive this early in the season."

Waldhart topped the field in the 500 freestyle in 4:56.24, while Lichinsky was first in the 50 freestyle in 22.05. In addition, Lichinsky was second in the 100 butterfly (53.10).

Heraly touched the wall in 49.11 to win the 100 freestyle and also placed second in the 50 free in 22.33. He also swam with the 200 free relay team.

Kluczinske won the 400 IM in 4:19.63 and Huemann took the 100 backstroke in 54.97.

The freshmen class played a huge role, with Smith winning the 200 free (1:47.47), Kraai the 1000 free (10:02.94) and Welchlin the 100 fly (50.92). Kraai was also second in the 100 free.

The 200 free relay squad of senior Matt Mahoney, junior Jake Kalinowski, sophomore Kyle Trelka and Heraly came out on top in 1:26.58. The 400 medley squad of freshmen Justin Hastings, Sho Young, Caleb Sandvold and Welchlin came home in first at 3:33.52.

The Panthers close out the weekend with a meet at UIC Saturday, taking on the host Flames as well as North Dakota, starting at 1 p.m.
