WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers men and women's swimming team turned in an extremely strong performance on Friday night against Wheaton College as the men won 119-86 and the women won 107-98.

"We had a solid team performance tonight," Panther coach Dave Clark said. "The races were exciting and every member of our program was up and cheering. It really made the night fun."

The men were showcased by Rob Vergeer, John Batty and Tim Watt. Vergeer won the men's 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:58.03, was a member of the relay team that placed third in the 400 Freestyle relay and helped lead the way to a victory in the 400 yard Medley relay. John Batty took second in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:50.46 and was also a part of the 400 Freestyle relay team that placed third. Tim Watt was part of the men's 400 yard Freestyle and 400 Medley relay teams that finished in first place.

The women received note-worthy efforts by Kari Kinney, Heather Sawatzki and Jen Kedinger. Kinney came from behind to pass by Wheaton's Grace Johnson to win the 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 2:13.62. Heather Sawatzki came in third for the 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 2:14.28 and was also a part of the winning 400 yard medley relay team. Jen Kedinger rounded out a solid Panther performance with a wins in the 1000 Frestyle and the 500 Freestyle.

The Panthers will return home to the Klotsche Center pool on Saturday, November 8. UWM men will host Evansville and Illinois-Chicago while the women will compete against Evansville, Illinois-Chicago and Northern Iowa. The meet will be held at the Klostche Center pool with events set to start at 12:00 p.m. Diving will also begin at noon and will be held at the Schroeder YMCA.
