CSCAA Honors Milwaukee Swimming & Diving Once Again7/9/2009 - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's and men's swimming & diving teams were once again named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-American list, announced recently by the organization. The Panthers were one of five Horizon League schools to make one of the lists, but Erica Janssen was the only head coach to have both women's and men's teams honored. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team has announced the addition of nine student-athletes who will compete next season for the Panthers. UWM head coach Erica Janssen announced today that Kevin Ewald of Hartland, Wis., Brady Garner of San Antonio, Tex., Ryan Goggans of Appleton, Wis., Justin Hastings of Cheyenne, Wyo., Zac Kraai of Zeeland, Mich., Caleb Sandvold of Oconomowoc, Wis., Mike Schalla of West Bend, Wis., Nathan Welchlin of Overland Park, Kans., and Sho Young of Mequon, Wis., will all enroll at UWM and participate next season. Junior Jeremy Waldhart of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming team was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Thursday. This is the second-straight season that he has earned the prestigious second-team honors. The team captain won 14 races and placed second in eight others during the 2008-09 season. He set school records in the 200 backstroke (placing second) and 400 IM (taking fourth) at the Horizon League Championships in 2009 and also set a Klotsche Natatorium record in the 200 backstroke during the year.
