Milwauke Soccer Team Holds End Of Season Banquet
Dec. 12, 2007
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team had its end of the season awards banquet Sunday, Dec. 9. It was an opportunity to recognize the seniors as well as the accomplishments of the 2007 season, highlighted by a second place finish in the Horizon League. The men's team was also recognized for its academic success by maintaining a composite grade-point average above a 3.00 for the academic year. "This was a time to celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of our players," UWM head coach Jon Coleman said. "It was also a chance to thank the seniors for their contributions they have made to the program over the past four or five years. We can't wait to have them back as alumni. In addition to the players, I want to thank the parents and fans for all of their support." Scott Dombrowski, former Panther and brother to current panther Zeke Dombrowski, was a special guest speaker at the banquet. Scott was the first of five of the Dombrowski brothers to play at Milwaukee (1997-2000). He was able to share his experiences as a player, alumni and brother. "Having Scott back to talk to the guys was fantastic," Coleman said. "It's always great to have an alumni share his thoughts and experiences with the current players. It gives them a glimpse of what it's like to be in the Panther family. I also thought it was important to bring back the first of the Dombrowski brothers in celebration of a decade worth of Dombrowski players." There were several team awards presented:
