Tighe Dombrowski Earns NSCAA Regional RecognitionDec. 12, 2003 MILWAUKEE - The present and the future sure look bright for UWM's Tighe Dombrowski. The senior star for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team was named to the NSCAA First-Team All-Region squad this week while being invited to participate in the 2003 Major League Soccer combine in January. Dombrowski is the third Panther to earn first-team honors, joining brother Chad and junior Antou Jallow, who both turned the trick last season. Dombrowski is making his second consecutive appearance on the All-Great Lakes region squad, with the 2003 honor following up a third-team appearance from a year ago. One of just ten players in Horizon League history to be named First-Team All-League three straight seasons, the West Allis-native was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament squad in November. The midfielder was also named the Most Valuable Player of the 2003 Green Bay/FILA Classic as he led UWM to a tournament title with four goals in two games. In addition to the all-region selection, Dombrowski was named as one of 54 college players to receive an invitation to the 2004 MLS Player Combine, the first ever in the league's history. The event, which will take place at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California, will serve as a scouting and talent evaluation in preparation to the MLS SuperDraft. The MLS combine will give prospective draftees a chance to showcase their skills to the general managers and coaching staffs of all 10 Major League Soccer franchises. Dombrowski, one of 24 midfielders selected, will play for adidas Predator Pulse, one of four teams at the combine. Dombrowski will look to join brother Chad Dombrowski, who became the first Milwaukee soccer player ever drafted when he was taken by the Chicago Fire in the fourth round of last year's MLS draft.
Milwaukee finished the 2003 season 16-6-1 overall after winning its third straight Horizon League regular season title. The Panthers won the league tournament title for the second consecutive year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
