MILWAUKEE - A No. 5 seed and a first-round game on the road only served as motivation for the UWM men's soccer team in the MCC Tournament on Nov. 3. The Panthers rolled over No. 4 UWGB, 5-2, in Green Bay, but fell on Nov. 7 to top-seed and eventual champion Butler, 2-0.

The MCC announced its postseason honors last week. Tony Colvin (New Berlin, Wis.-Eisenhower) was named to the MCC second team for the second consecutive season. The junior midfielder led UWM in scoring this season. Freshman Bobby de St. Aubin (Stillwater, Minn.-Stillwater) was named to the all-newcomer team. De St. Aubin led UWM in assists as a rookie.

Senior Neal Driscoll (DePere, Wis.-Notre Dame) and freshman Ryan Seymour (Portage, Mich.-Northern) were named to the MCC all-tournament team. Seymour scored a pair of goals in UWM's win over UWGB in the first round of the tournament, and Driscoll had a great game in the backfield.

Against the Phoenix, UWM jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the strength of goals by Seymour and Joe Bernstein (Cedarburg, Wis.-Cedarburg) The Panthers yielded a pair of second half goals, forcing overtime, when the Panthers exploded for three goals.

I thought this team had the capability of scoring a lot of goals. Tonight they did, said UWM coach Louis Bennett. Tonight we had five picture-perfect finishes.

The win moved the Panthers into a semifinal matchup against Butler, ranked No. 22 in the nation last week.

The Panthers were outshot 8-14 in the game. Butler scored in the 15th minute when David Beck found the back of the net from 6 yards out. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 2-0 in the 87th minute
