Former Panther Dombrowski Honored By MISLNov. 30, 2005 MILWAUKEE - Former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer player Chad Dombrowski continues to make a name for himself in the world of professional soccer, this time earning Defensive Player of the Week honors in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Dombrowski (1999-2002), who served as a volunteer assistant coach for UWM again this fall, recently made news in August when he helped lead the Minnesota Thunder to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup. This time, it was as a member of the Milwaukee Wave, earning Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career. He has helped the Wave to a perfect 4-0 start and a 1.5 game lead over second-place Baltimore. In their last game against the California Cougars, Dombrowski scored the first goal of the match and then helped anchor another top defensive effort for the MISL's best defensive team so far this season. He added three blocks in the game, giving him five on the year. He was originally drafted by the Wave (eighth overall) in the 2003 MISL Amateur Draft, and was also selected in the MLS draft. On February 10, 2005, Dombrowski agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Wave.
