College Soccer News Includes Fernstrum On National Team Of The Week

Freshman keeper takes 450-minute scoreless streak into Tuesday's game

Nov. 20, 2005

MILWAUKEE - Freshman goalkeeper Grant Fernstrum of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team has been named a member of College Soccer News National Team of the Week for Nov. 20, the website announced on Sunday.

This marks the second time this season that Fernstrum has been named to the squad. He was also honored the week of Oct. 10.

He posted his fifth-straight shutout on Friday as the Panthers opened first round action in the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Bradley University. The shutout was his 10th of the season, tying the school mark as he extended his scoreless streak to 450 minutes. The shutout was also UWM's 12th as a team this season, tying the program mark set in 1979.

Fernstrum lowered his goals against average to 0.38 with the victory, a number that currently leads all of NCAA Division I.

Fernstrum and senior Neil Dombrowski (Oct. 26) have both been honored by College Soccer News this season.
