MILWAUKEE - A 4-12-1 season record doesn't mean anything as the UWM men's soccer team prepares for the MCC Tournament.

The Panthers received a favorable draw when they earned the No. 5 seed. They play No. 4 UWGB on the road on Tues., Oct. 3.

"I feel excellent about our chances in the tournament," said Head Coach Louis Bennett. "With the exception of (No. 1) Butler, all of our losses in conference were 1-0 scores. It is encouraging that in the first round we are playing someone we are capable of beating."

The Panthers lost to UWGB at Engelmann Field on Oct. 4, 1-0.

"They are a hard working team," Bennett said of the Phoenix. "They use effort and determination to win, but looking at the match-ups for the tournament, Green Bay is a place I would put high on my list of places to visit. Plus, the instate rivalry will add spice to the game."

The winner of the game will advance to the league's semifinal round. The semifinals and the finals are played at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.

UWM received the No. 5 seed when they tied Wright State at Engelmann on Sunday, 2-2. After 84 minutes of scoreless play, the floodgates opened with four goals in the next five minutes.

UWM scored the game's first two goals. Mark Durham (New Berlin, Wis.-Eisenhower) , who had several scoring chances in the game, converted when took a pass from Dan Manella (Pittsgrove, NJ-Schalick) on the right side of the box and scored in the 84th minute.

UWM's Tony Colvin (New Berlin, Wis.-Eisenhower) pushed the score to 2-0 when he converted a penalty kick 38 seconds later. Wright State bounced back by scoring goals in the 88th and 89th minute, forcing overtime.

UWM outshot the Raiders, 28-13 in the game. Matt Schmidt (Racine, Wis.-Horlick) played 95 minutes in goal for UWM, and did not allow any scores.

UWM lost to Butler on Oct. 30, 3-1. The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie with three goals in a 10 minute span. Joe Bernstein (Cedarburg, Wis.-Cedarburg) scored UWM's goal in the 77th minute.
