Nov. 6, 2008
MILWAUKEE - Freshman Eric Frazier of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team when the league office announced the men's soccer postseason teams and awards Thursday. Frazier was also named a member of the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team, where he was joined by fellow freshman Tony Maxey. Frazier leads the team and is tied for eighth in the Horizon League with 14 points in 18 games, with his five goals sixth in the league and four assists tied for eighth. He also leads the team in shots, shots on goal and with his two game-winning goals. His goal, assist and point totals are the highest for a UWM freshman since Neil Dombrowski recorded 14 points (5G/4A) in 2002. His five goals are also the most for any UWM player since Dombrowski had nine in 2005. Maxey has been solid all season, stepping into the starting lineup the very first game of the year. He has played every minute of the 17 contests he has appeared in this fall, missing one match due to injury. He also recorded an assist against Northern Illinois Oct. 14. Regular season league champion UIC took home most of the specialty awards, with Baggio Husidic claiming the Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors. Robert Younger was the Defensive Player of the Year, Jovan Bubonja the Goalkeeper of the Year and John Trask the Coach of the Year. Green Bay's Tony Walls was named Newcomer of the Year.
