MILWAUKEE-Blake Bostwick (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington), a senior midfielder on the UWM men's soccer team, has been named the Brine MCC Player of the Week, the league office announced yesterday. This is the first week this season the MCC has recognized a UWM men's soccer player.

Bostwick dominated the midfield in both games this weekend, but tallied a goal and an assist in Sunday's come-from behind victory over Akron. He combined with sophomore defender Chad Dombrowski (West Allis, Wis./Hale) on the game-winning goal in the Panthers' 2-1 win against Akron. Bostwick dribbled into the box past traffic and took on Akron's goalkeeper, sliding it into the open net from six yards out on the left. He recorded the assist with a shot that ricocheted off the post, allowing junior forward Ryan Seymour (Portage, Mich./Northern) to tap-in the equalizer. With eight points (3 goals, 2 assists) on the season, Bostwick is tied for fourth in Panthers' scoring.

Picked to finish second in the MCC preseason poll of coaches, UWM (9-7) is currently tied with intrastate rival UW-Green Bay for third place in the MCC with a 3-2 record. The Panthers are riding a two-game winning streak as they travel to California this weekend for Saturday's game against Saint Mary's in Morago at 2 p.m. PST.
